UK Project Controls Social Impact of the Year

What the judges are looking for

Judges are looking here for evidence of the great and complex social impact ‘programmes’ being delivered in the UK across all sectors, that are designed to change lives, make society more effective, communities more connected and ultimately change futures.

They are also looking for ‘programmes’ of work that can demonstrate great controls not just on time, cost and quality but also on benefits (which can typically be realised way after the project has finished), for the legacy the project is creating and how it has impacted the lives in the communities both during delivery and after everyone has ‘packed up and gone home’.

Finally, we are looking for this award to definitely disrupt our conventional view of what ‘programmes’ look like and what they can achieve.

Each of the criteria is scored between 0 (no evidence at all) and 10 (perfect evidence) with each section being weighted accordingly (see %).

PROJECT CONTROLS MANAGEMENT (25%)

Context: Up to 250 words

Describe the background of the social impact and how its need arose. What worked and what didn’t on the governance and how did it influence the successful delivery? What broad outside organizational factors had an impact and how were they managed?

Describe who worked on the social impact, including multi organizational collaborations, and how they were motivated to achieve its objectives. How were their relationships and attitudes managed effectively? How was a professional approach implemented and carried throughout? Outline the key stakeholders, inside and outside, and how they were motivated and co-ordinated in line with the project control specific objectives. Please clarify what these objectives were.

How effective, and why, was the interface between the management of the social impact with your sponsor and all stakeholders? Outline any key challenges encountered managing the interfaces with other areas and disciplines that needed to be overcome.
