Sohail Ashraf, and I am the AGR Transfer Programme Director for Nuclear Restoration Services responsible for the management of the transfer of the 7 AGR sites into NRS for future decommissioning. Prior to this role, I was the Site Director responsible for the safe decommissioning of Sizewell A and the Care and Maintenance of Bradwell sites. Been an NRS employee since January 2020, having led on programmes such as Plant & Structures, and the Rolling Programme of Decommissioning. My career commenced at Dounreay for UKAEA as a graduate in 1998. After leaving Dounreay in 2000 I gained a wide range of experience and opportunities working across various sites in the UK. This ranged from New Build, Operations and Maintenance, Decommissioning, Programme Management, and Construction and Commissioning Management whilst working for Cavendish Nuclear. Fortunate to have a varied career which has been supported by my family, and a couple of the highlights in my career recently have been being part of amazing teams that delivered the final C&M demobilisation at Bradwell, and our joint NRS & EDF team delivering the transfer of Hunterston B and Hinkley Point B into NRS. Our focus is now planning for Dungeness B to transfer.

Andy is a thought leader on sustainability, is at the forefront of the purpose driven business movement and now runs his own company supporting organisations to embed and operationalise purpose. He has worked within Government and the private sector for the last 30 years, leading on the natural environment, climate change, place-based regeneration, measuring the value of environmental and social prosperity and embedding purpose. In his last full time role as Group Chief Sustainability Officer for Anglian Water, he worked with the board to oversee the delivery of their purpose, “to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve”. Major General Andy Gilks was commissioned into the Army Air Corps in 1998. After an operational tour in Bosnia with the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, he completed Army pilot training in 2000. He first flew Gazelle helicopters as part of 9 Regiment Army Air Corps in the light reconnaissance role, serving in Northern Ireland, Kenya, Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia. Selected for the first frontline Apache conversion course as part of 656 Sqn AAC, he played a role in developing the aircraft’s maritime capability and its first operational deployment to Op HERRICK. Dr Sheldon joined the MoD following a degree in Chemistry at Edinburgh University in 1993 and a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Oxford University in 1996. His initial appointments were; MoD Procurement Executive, MoD Centre and the Defence Engineering and Research Agency (DERA), followed by a 2-year project management post at the Defence Procurement Agency. In 2001 he joined the Defence Fixed Networks (DFN) Integrated Project Team (IPT) at the Defence Communications Services Agency (DCSA), becoming the Assistant Director for the DCSA change programme in 2004. In 2006, Dr Sheldon moved to the Defence Logistics Organisation, to establish and lead the Defence Logistics Performance Management Programme (DLPM), then to the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Performance Delivery Improvement (PDI) team, working directly to the DE&S Chief Operating Officer. In August 2010, Dr Sheldon became the Head of Cost Assurance and Analysis Service (CAAS) team. He next led the establishment of the new DE&S Project Controls function, playing a critical role in enabling DE&S Transformation, which became operational in April 2017. In April 2018, Dr Sheldon became the Head of Submarine Production responsible for the delivery of the Astute Boats 4-7 from build into service. Advancing to become the Director of Submarine Acquisition, responsible for the acquisition of all Royal Navy submarines including the Astute, Dreadnought and SSN (Nuclear submarine) AUKUS programmes (A defence and security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.). In April 2024, Dr Sheldon became the 2* Chief Delivery Officer at Dstl. Richard Smart took up his current role as Director Project Delivery in DE&S Systems Integration in October 2024. His previous senior leadership roles have involved delivery at Director-level in Army HQ, MOD Head Office and DE&S. His portfolio, programme and project management experience started with equipment planning and investment approvals in MOD Head Office for the RAF in the early 1990s. He then moved into a series of roles involving complex equipment delivery and equipment support with the Hercules C-130J, C-17 and A400M transport aircraft programmes, communication systems for the Fire and Rescue Services and weapon systems across the breadth of UK Defence (maritime, land and air). Most recently, he worked on artillery and air defence capabilities across all Defence Lines of Development as a Senior Responsible Owner in Army HQ. Like many of the people working in the MOD, Richard also has substantial experience of business change. He was an internal consultant on the Integrated Project Team rollout programme as part of the MOD’s Smart Acquisition Initiative in the late 1990s; he completed a review of equipment acquisition in the Japan Defence Agency while on secondment in Tokyo; he led the Defence Procurement Agency’s portfolio management office; and he was the Programme Director supporting the DE&S Executive on the DE&S Material Strategy. Her first experience of project management came during a posting to the Falkland Islands in the 1990s, working within the Project Sponsors Office. She later managed the Courts-Martial Centre in Osnabrück, Germany, where she met her husband and started her family before returning to the UK.  Vicky joined the Joint Sensor & Engagement Networks team in 2007, where she managed risks and schedules for a Cat A project before taking on her first PM role in 2008, delivering an urgent requirement for a very short-range radar capability. Subsequent roles included Project Controls Lead, Project Manager for the Ballistic Missile Defence Programme, Deputy Team Leader for Space and Team Leader for the International Guns, Missiles and Rockets portfolio.  In 2025, Vicky moved to Navy Command Headquarters to establish a new Portfolio Office before returning to DE&S in February 2026 to take up her current role, bringing her career full circle back to delivering radar capability.  Outside work, she enjoys walking her dog Sky, paddleboarding with her daughter Jess, and maintains a healthy sense of competitiveness in all aspects of life.
