Who you surround yourself with matters. A big note of thanks goes to Cnergyico Pk Limited for acknowledging my obsession and giving me the opportunity to attend this year’s Project Controls Expo UK 2024 held at the Wembley Stadium in London. One of the unique features of the expo was to be able to see the top-notch knowledgeable professionals and professional bodies. The demographics at Wembley were very meticulously planned out from the Great Hall to 5-different zones. Each moment must have left an ocean of learning for each attendee. Grabing a bite of cookies to picking up espresso on top of delicious meals was giving an elevating feel without a single sign of fatigue. Hats off to Anil and all the unsung heroes behind the scenes.
Catching up with Shane Forth FAPM FACostE MSc, Anil Godhawale, IEng, CCP, PSP, Chirag Shah FIRP, Ian Baker of riskHive, Mark Franklin of Safran, Paul Major of changemaker was really marvelous. Having a chat with Prof (Dr) Adam Boddison OBE, Christine McLean FCaSA, CPCostE at the Tap House was amazing. Panel discussions were superbly insightful. I personally enjoyed Number Nine and Tap House the most. Special thanks to Chontell Braceland of hashtag#APM for her very comprehensive directions beforehand and during the expo for potential fellowship opportunities.
The conference provided the attendees with the best in class practices being evolved and the extent of readiness and challenges each organization and individual have to face to get geared up for the sustainable growth in Project Controls. The future of Project Controls has an accelerated pace of evolution with multiple dimensions to still work upon but with a smart eye on reducing duplication in multiple efforts from many of us. Couldn’t think of ending this note without mentioning my dear friend Olusegun OTEGBEYE. I literally found him a power house of diligence who loves putting his contribution in a variety of discussions associated with Project Management and Project Controls.

Reflecting on the just concluded Project Controls Expo UK 2024 held at the prestigious Wembley Stadium in London. The 2 day conference brought together key professionals including Subject Matter Experts from various project backgrounds across the globe. The conference provided latest insights including, industry recommended best practices and solutions to managing critical projects within complex project environments while reflecting on lessons learnt.
It was good to listen to a wide array of presentations, discussions and catching up with the presenters afterwards to discuss technical topics aimed at providing enhanced project solutions whilst encouraging knowledge share. Exciting Times at the Project Controls Expo UK! ?
Last week has a phenomenal time at the hashtag#ProjectControlsExpo Project Controls Expo UK in London, and I must say, the future of project controls and mega project delivery looks incredibly bright! It was a pleasure to be part of the panel discussion hosted by Colette Ricketts of HS2, alongside inspiring colleagues Charlene Chatelier, Lance Stephenson, Charlotte Hills, and Patric L. We dove deep into the pivotal role of project controls at the epicenter of mega projects. I spoke about the importance of health and safety, and psychological safety in particular, to achieving successful outcomes from mega projects.
