What the judges are looking for

A business that has harnessed the power of technologies to build or transform Project Controls within their own, or others, business. It could be a newer one that could only successfully exist and grow in the digital age, or an established one that is using these new technologies to deliver more effectively. Judges will be looking for demonstration of a creative and innovative approach within technology, strong connectivity and interactivity, stakeholder engagement, plus an ongoing and sustained commitment to delivering leading practices. Each of the criteria is scored between 0 (no evidence at all) and 10 (perfect evidence) with each section being weighted accordingly (see %)

PROJECT CONTROLS MANAGEMENT (25%)

Context: Up to 200 words

  • Describe the background to your tech development(s).
  • What worked and what didn’t on the governance and what influences impacted upon the successful delivery of this creative and innovative approach within technology? 
  • What broad outside organisational factors had an impact and how were they managed?
  • How does your recent work display creativity and make your business stand out amongst others?

  • Describe who worked on the tech, including any multi business collaborations, and how they were motivated to achieve its objectives.  
  • How were their relationships and attitudes managed effectively?
  • How was a professional approach implemented and carried throughout?
  • Outline the key stakeholders, inside and outside, and how they were motivated and co-ordinated in line with the specific project control related objectives. Please clarify what these objectives were.

Interfaces: Up to 200 words

  • How effective, and why, was the interface between the management of the tech team with your sponsor and all stakeholders?
  • Outline any key challenges encountered managing the interfaces with other areas and disciplines that needed to be overcome

  • What innovations were used to develop the project controls related tech and how were they managed?
  • What tools and techniques were used to manage innovation?
  • How did this impact the successful delivery of the tech development?

  • What were the key lessons learned that have been captured and shared within the organisation because of the tech development?
  • What methods were used to document and then share these experiences?
  • Were lessons learned also shared outside of the organisation because of this new tech and, if so, how?

  • Describe how the tech achieved what it set out to do and what was instrumental to its success?
